Buglife
Help to save the small things that run the world
Bugs, or invertebrates, are vitally important to a healthy planet. The food we eat, the fish we catch, the birds we see, the flowers we smell and the hum of life we hear, simply would not exist without bugs. An amazing one in three mouthfuls of our food depends upon insect pollination. Can you imagine a world without honey, chocolate, coffee and strawberries? Neither can we, but without bugs we would have none of these.
Bugs are facing an extinction crisis. Many wonderful bugs are declining both in the UK and worldwide. Sadly, three types of bumblebees are now extinct in the UK, seven out of ten types of butterflies are in significant decline and over six out of ten riverflies have disappeared in recent years. But its not too late to make a difference!
Buglife - The Invertebrate Conservation Trust is the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates. Buglife works to protect bugs and their habitats, campaign for bugs and the environment and gets people involved in conservation action. Thanks to the support of people like you we have saved rich wildlife sites from development, ensured that toxic chemicals were banned and involved thousands of people in learning about the fascinating bugs in their gardens and local parks.
